Teacher
Erin Shehata
Her love of teaching movement began years earlier, teaching bilingual aerobics and yoga with Club Med in Colorado, Florida, the Bahamas, and Guadeloupe. A wife, boy mom, and dog mom, yoga is her much-needed escape from all the testosterone at home. When she’s not on her mat, she’s a pediatric nurse practitioner, traveling, or juggling approximately a billion things at once. After completing Kula’s 90 in 90 challenge and an unforgettable retreat to Puerto Rico, she decided to complete her 200-hour yoga teacher training. Kula is home—a place to meet friends, get her sweat on, and continually surprise herself with what her body and mind are capable of. She hopes to give her students that same safe, welcoming space to explore their practice, challenge themselves, and discover what they’re capable of. 10 minutes before class: Probably still changing—or seeing a patient. Her life fits in a backpack because she’s usually running from one thing to the next. “I could live here forever” place: Anywhere near the ocean. New Smyrna Beach is home, but the mountains are a close second. The most “me” thing about me: Doing too many things at once and never staying still for very long.
